This is Jason Kenney, Canada’s government minister of citizenship, immigration and multiculturalism. Kenney’s policy is defined by a narrowing of what constitutes a potential canadian and periodic mass-revocation of citizenships. He blocked war-resisting Americans seeking refugee status. His policy-making reflects his desire for the authority to refuse citizenship based on his own moral assessments. Kenney also has an anti-gay agenda that shapes policy. People who would otherwise have permanent residency status through marriage now must tolerate a conditional residency status requiring the partner to live as legal spouse for a minimum of two years.

Along with all the lives this man fucks with through the “protecting canada’s immigration system act,” the “faster removal of foreign criminals act” and others, are the workers in this country, past, present and future, who live every day with no safety net and without the support of the majority of canadians.

A powerful May Day shout-out to my effigy, Mr. Jason Kenney, and a shout-out to those who recognize the need for the rights of ALL workers.
